Oct 14 – Advertisement posters seen in Karnataka seeking applications from drivers to drive Kadamba EV buses has stirred a controversy in Goa. Opposition has slammed the govt for advertising for jobs in other states when Goa itself is facing unemployment issue. “Withdraw this nonsense immediately, and pull up the company that’s leased the buses,” tweeted Goa Forward leader Vijai Sardesai. Clarifying over the matter KTCL Chairperson Ulhas Tuenkar said that the advertisements have been issued by Olectra company from whom govt has procured 85 EV buses. As per contract with Olectra, the company is responsible for maintenance, charging, appointment of driver etc while the conductor is a KTCL employee, informed Tuenkar. He however added that the company has been given strict instructions to give first preference to Goans and only if local drivers are not available, persons from other states should be appointed.
