Feb 17- Goa govt has notified the amended Goa Provision of Water Supply (Amendment) Act, which gives powers to the assistant engineer of concerned jurisdictional area of the public works department to impose a fine of Rs 10,000 for domestic water consumption and Rs 50,000 for semi-domestic, commercial, and industrial purposes for any contravention of the provisions of the act. Section 6 of the Act has been amended to this effect. The amendment aims to ensure quicker and timely action, states the notification. Earlier, under the act, the penalty or fines could be imposed on conviction by a judicial magistrate.
