Digital Goa, June 1 – The Goa government has commenced its annual 61-day fishing ban, effective from today until July 31, to protect marine biodiversity during the monsoon breeding season. The ban prohibits mechanised fishing vessels, including those using trawl nets and purse-seine nets, from operating along Goa’s coastline and territorial waters. However, registered motorized canoes with engines up to 10 HP using gill nets are permitted to fish under specific conditions.
