Arpora Fire: Post-mortem reports confirm 21 death due to inhalation of toxic gases

Digital Goa, Dec 9 – Post-mortem examinations have been completed on 21 of the 25 victims of the Birch by Romeo Lane fire tragedy — including 16 staff members and five tourists — and all 21 bodies have been handed over to their families and taken to their native places, officials confirmed. Medical findings certify the cause of death for 19 victims as “cerebral and pulmonary edema consequent to inhalation of asphyxiant gases.” The remaining two victims were certified to have died due to “pulmonary and cerebral edema consequent to inhalation of asphyxiant gases in a person with desino epidermal flame burn injuries.” Post-mortem examination of two deceased individuals from Nepal is currently underway. Of the deceased, 20 were employees of Birch by Romeo Lane, while four were tourists from Delhi and one tourist was from Karnataka.
