Digital Goa, Jan 12 – The first day of the Twelfth Session of the Eighth Goa Legislative Assembly began on a stormy note on Monday, as Opposition members disrupted Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s address. As the Governor rose to deliver his maiden address to the House, LoP Yuri Alemao urged him to speak on the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub fire tragedy, which claimed 25 lives, and other pressing issues facing the state. CM Pramod Sawant intervened, asking the Speaker to tell LoP to maintain the protocol of the House. Following this the Governor continued with his address. However, all seven Opposition MLAs walked into the well of the House holding placards in protest and shouting slogans. They were subsequently marshalled out by Assembly staff. This was the Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s first address to the House and marked the start of the five-day Assembly session scheduled from January 12 to January 16.
