Digital Goa, August, 12 – An Assolna resident was allegedly cheated of around ₹1.49 lakh by cyber fraudsters who impersonated officials of the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA). According to the complaint filed by Assolna resident in this regards, he received a WhatsApp call on July 27 from an unknown person posing as a GCZMA official. The fraudster allegedly exploited issues related to the complainant’s business and induced him to make payments on the pretext of resolving them.Believing the representations to be genuine, he transferred a total of around ₹1,49,500 through multiple online transactions to accounts provided by the accused. Cuncolim police are investigating the case.
