Digital Goa, Oct 10 – Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale has extended apology for his statement that it is not possible to provide reservation for ST community in the State Legislative Assembly due to small size of their population in Goa. He said that he made the statement as he was unaware that 12% of the state’s population comprises of ST community people. Neither the workers sitting next to me nor the media person brought the mistake to his notice, he lamented. He went on to add that he supports the demand of reservation of 4 seats in the 40 member state legislative assembly made by the ST community. “As a minister of Social Justice and Empowerment , I will also try to get the reservation approved for the community,” he assured.
