Balrath employees call off their strike following assurance of salary hike by CM

    Digital Goa, July 19 – United Balrath Employees Association today announced that they have withdrawn their strike following assurance of salary hike by the govt. In view of this, the 650 odd Balrath attendants and drivers will join back on their duties from tomorrow informed the Association leaders. The salary of the attendants has been increased to Rs 10,000 from existing Rs 5,500. Driver’s salary has been increased from Rs 11,000 to Rs 17,000. In addition they have been assured of yearly increment of 5 %. The new salary structure will be effective in retrospective effect from June 2023. The breakthrough came during the Balrath Employees Association members meeting with CM Pramod Sawant today morning. The union leaders said that CM Sawant has assured them of looking into their other demands like being paid for all 12 months instead of just 11 months as is the case now.
    Students and parents across Goa had to face major hardships as Balrath employees ferrying students to and from schools were on strike since Monday, July 17.
