Banastari Accident: High Court adjourns hearing on Paresh’s bail plea to Aug 21

Digital Goa, Aug 17 – High Court today adjourned hearing in the bail plea of Banastari accident case Mercedes driver Paresh Sinai Sawardekar to Monday, Aug 21. Government prosecution Pravin Phal Dessai informed the court that the process of handing over the investigation to Crime Branch is underway. Govt has decided to hand over the case to Crime Branch after Diwar residents and local MLA alleged of shoddy investigation by Mardol police. The horrific accident that occurred on Aug 6 on the Banastari bridge allegedly due to rash and negligent driving in inebriated state had claimed 3 lives including a couple from Diwar, and grievously injured 3 others. Paresh is presently housed at Colvale State Central jail and is on 14 day judicial custody. Hearing in the anticipatory bail plea of his wife Meghna has been scheduled on Aug 23.
Meanwhile, Meghana has filed a plea before the High Court challenging the summons sent to her by the Mardol police.
