BharatNet work to begin in rural Goa from October; local partners sought for phased rollout

Digital Goa, August, 7 – Work on the BharatNet project in Goa will begin in October 2026 with the laying of optical fibre cables to connect all Gram Panchayats with 1 Gbps broadband. Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) services for rural households, businesses and other users will be introduced in phases thereafter. To support the last-mile connectivity, BSNL Goa has invited local entrepreneurs, youth, students and self-employed individuals to partner in extending fibre links from Gram Panchayat locations to customer premises. The initiative, being implemented under the Ministry of Communications’ Digital Bharat Nidhi, is expected to create business and employment opportunities while strengthening digital connectivity in rural Goa, states a release by Union Ministry of Communications.
