Feb 6 – The Goa Provision of Water Supply (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which seeks to simplify the process of imposing penalties for violations, will be tabled in the Assembly tomorrow by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The bill empowers PWD assistant engineers to directly impose fines of Rs 10,000 for domestic violations and Rs 50,000 for semi-domestic, commercial, and industrial violations, eliminating the need for a judicial magistrate’s conviction, as required under the existing law.
