Digital Goa, July 1 – BJP Core committee meeting held today has unanimously decided on one name to be sent to the central leadership as party’s official candidate for ensuing Rajya Sabha polls, informed Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar. He however refrained from naming the candidate. The name will be declared in a day or two, he added. Election to states lone Rajya Sabha seat will be held on July 24. Incumbent Rajya Sabha MP and BJP leader Vinay Tendulkar’s term as MP expires on July 28. Lok Sabha MP Shripad Naik and former Lok Sabha MP Narendra Sawaikar were absent for the core committee meeting due to ‘prior assignments’.

Party President Sadanand Shet Tanavade when queried if he was interested in Rajya Sabha candidature said, “For now I am interested. However, party decision would be final and acceptable to all in this regards.”
