Oct 17 – The body of 11-year-old Darshan Narvekar was recovered from the Dudhsagar River, near MRF at Usgao. The young boy drowned yesterday evening in a stream swollen due to heavy rains. The incident occurred while he was returning from his tuition classes at Sainagar, Usgao, with a group of friends. Darshan’s sister showed presence of mind and managed to rescue two other children from the water, but Darshan drowned in the roadside stream. Fire and Emergency Service personnel, who had launched search and rescue operations yesterday, recovered the body today.
