The state cabinet has approved the formulation of a new scheme through the Industries Department called the Goa State Logistics and Warehousing Incentive Scheme. Industry Minister Mauvin Godinho said the scheme has been designed to promote the logistics and warehousing sector while ensuring local employment. Companies employing at least 60% Goan workers will be eligible for full benefits, while those employing 40%–60% Goans will receive partial benefits. The incentives under the scheme include a capital investment subsidy of up to ₹50 lakh, 50% interest subsidy on term loans for three to five years, 100% reimbursement of stamp duty and registration fees, and 100% electricity duty reimbursement for cold chain units. In addition, a skill development subsidy of ₹5,000 per Goan worker will be provided for up to 1,000 workers, along with a subsidy for quality certification, up to ₹2 lakh subsidy for upgrading logistics and management support software, and tracking services support up to ₹5,000. The scheme also provides custom incentives for mega projects. Godinho informed that most proposals for setting up units in Goa come from the logistics and warehousing industry itself.
