May 21 – A woman from Cacora, Curchorem was cheated of Rs 2 lakh in a ‘digital arrest’ scam. Fraudsters impersonating Delhi Police officers contacted her via WhatsApp video call on April 14.Claiming a bank account had been opened using her Aadhaar for illegal transactions, the accused demanded Rs 2.5 lakh to “withdraw” her name from the case. Fearing arrest, she transferred Rs 2 lakh.
