Carapur-Sarvan villagers stage protest at Jantar Mantar against mega project

    Digital Goa, July 13 – Marking 100 days of their agitation against the proposed mega project in their village, residents of Carapur-Sarvan on Monday staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding that the project be scrapped. The protesters said their movement has completed 100 days without any resolution and reiterated their opposition to the project, alleging it would adversely affect the village and its environment. They urged the Central and State governments to withdraw the proposal and protect the interests of local residents. South Goa Congress MP Viriato Fernandes, AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik, Congress leader Sunil Kawthankar were also present at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to extend their support to the protestors. The agitation against the project has been continuing in the village for the past 100 days. Villagers have also announced a parallel protest at Azad Maidan in Panaji at 5 pm today.
