Digital Goa, Jan 18 – The Cavelossim Village Panchayat gram sabha has strongly opposed the inclusion of the Betul Port in the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) 2019 and demanded the removal of the port limits shown under the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA). The proposed port is opposite Cavelossim and Mobor villages. Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz informed that the Betul Port did not figure in the CZMP 2011 after local residents had objected to it. “Suddenly, in the new draft plan, the port has been shown again,” he said. Incidentally, Salcete BDO, has sent emails to all village panchayats in Salcete block directing them to download the draft CZMP 2019, place it in the public domain for comments and suggestions, and convey the feedback to the authorities on or before January 20, 2026.
