Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has withdrawn permission granted to Enough is Enough for holding a public meeting at Azad Maidan on May 30. In a communication dated May 25, CCP informed the group that the permission granted on May 21 stands cancelled as the government is setting up an exhibition at Azad Maidan to commemorate Goa Statehood Day. CCP has stated that any fees paid towards the permission will be refunded upon submission of the original payment receipt. The “Enough is Enough” movement in Goa is a citizen-led protest against illegalities and the destruction of the state’s environment and is led by retired Chief Justice Ferdino Rebello.
The organisers have now decided to hold the meeting online and called Goans from across the state and the globe to participate in the online meeting.
