Oct 18 – Midday meal expenses for approximately 1,400 schools across the state are expected to reach Rs 38.27 crore for the current academic year. Of this, Rs 18.78 crore will be borne by the Centre, with the rest contributed by the state. Two instalments of these funds have already been received from the Centre, informed Director of Education Shailesh Zingde. The Centre generally shares costs with states in a 60:40 ratio. Approximately 94,532 students avail of meals under the scheme in Goa.
