Chargesheet filed against five in Dona Paula dacoity; four Bangladeshi nationals among accused

Digital Goa, July 29 – Goa Police have informed that they have filed a chargesheet against five accused, including four Bangladeshi nationals, in the April 2025 Dona Paula bungalow dacoity in which about 1 kg of gold ornaments and ₹3 lakh in cash were allegedly looted from the residence of a businessman’s father. The chargesheet names Noor Islam alias Nadim Khan, Md. Saiful Islam, Sohail Khan, Md. Suman Hauladar alias Babu alias Pappu, all from Bagerhat, Bangladesh, and Mahmood of Calangute. The accused were formally arrested after being apprehended by the Delhi Police in April 2026. Police said the gang allegedly assaulted the caretaker, held the elderly occupants at knifepoint, tied them up, confined them inside the bungalow and fled with gold and cash. The investigation relied on witness statements, a Test Identification Parade, CCTV footage, technical evidence and recovery of part of the stolen property and other incriminating articles. The chargesheet, filed before the JMFC, Merces, also invokes provisions of the Foreigners (Amendment) Act, 2004, alleging that the four Bangladeshi nationals were staying in India without valid documents, while Mahmood harboured them.
