Child Committee to address begging menace; community vigilance system introduced : CCP Mayor

Digital Goa, Dec 2 – Child Committee comprising CCP members, NGO, police, Childline representatives etc has been formed to tackle the issue of begging in the city, particularly involving children, informed CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate. The committee will also engage with schools on student-related concerns, he added. A similar committee has been operational under CCP to improve safety for women and children over the past few months. Monserrate also briefed the media about the community policing initiative launched to improve coordination between citizens and police. Under the programme, selected community members will be trained to report suspicious activity, supported by WhatsApp groups and monthly review meetings.
