Digital Goa, Jan 18 – The protest by Chimbel villagers against the proposed Unity Mall project entered its 22nd day on Sunday. Agitators received support from GAKUVED(Gawda, Kunbi, Velip, and Dhangar) Federation today. The villagers have been opposing the Centre-funded Unity Mall project, proposed under the One District One Product scheme alleging that it will affect the fragile ecosystem around the Toyyar lake. Following a massive protest on January 16, CM Pramod Sawant has assured the protestors that the government would hold a meeting with the villagers on Monday or Tuesday over discussions on the future of the project in consultation with the Center.
