Digital Goa, August 6 – CM Pramod Sawant informed the Assembly that three mining blocks are currently operational, and operations at Shirgao and Cudnem will begin soon. Lease signing for seven more blocks is underway. He also announced that a fresh tender will be floated within 10 days to revive the Sanjivani Sugar Factory.
On the education front, he said that contract teachers with over 10 years of service will be regularised under a new scheme. ₹4,281 crore, or 15% of the state budget, has been allocated to education. He added that 90% of school repairs are complete, old buses will be phased out, and unqualified teachers will be removed.
Other announcements included plans for a Goa State Museum at Ella on a 10,000 sq mtr plot, and a common campus for professional colleges on Goa University land. Most Midday Meal payments have been cleared, with the remaining to be paid by Ganesh Chaturthi.
