Digital Goa, Jan 7 – CM Pramod Sawant has assured taxi operators of temporary relief at Mopa Airport by increasing the waiting time in the pickup zone to five minutes, taxi association leaders said on Wednesday. The CM also promised to discuss the matter with airport operator GMR and examine time regulations at other airports to arrive at an amicable solution. The assurance comes after all-Goa taxi drivers staged a protest against new rules introduced by GMR at Mopa Airport, which penalise vehicles waiting beyond the stipulated time. Drivers said the time limit was unrealistic, making it difficult to coordinate with passengers and handle luggage efficiently. They demanded that the airport review the regulations, arguing that the fines unfairly target taxi operators who provide essential transport services.
