CM backs mediation to reduce litigations, increase happiness index

Digital Goa, June 25 – CM Pramod Sawant has urged Panchayats, Mamlatdars and Deputy Collectors to refer disputes that can be settled amicably to the newly launched ‘Jansaathi – Centre for Dispute Resolution’. They should initially focus on Panchayat to Deputy Collector-level cases, advised CM. Speaking after the signing of an MoU between the Goa Government and Jansaathi – Centre for Dispute Resolution at V M Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar, Sawant said faster mediation would save time and money while improving the state’s happiness index.
The centre is expected to promote pre-litigation settlements, particularly in village and land disputes, and conduct mediation awareness and training programmes for local administrators and Panchayat representatives.
