Digital Goa, June 18 – Proposals to revise minimum wages for highly skilled workers and address transportation challenges faced by rural workers commuting to industrial areas were among key issues discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by CM Pramod Sawant with major industry stakeholders. The meeting, attended by senior government officials and representatives from sectors such as pharma, shipping, tourism, automobile, and services, focused on aligning Goa’s workforce development with evolving industry demands. Key proposals included the creation of a Labour Welfare Portal for transparent delivery of employee benefits, promotion of Goan contractors to reduce reliance on external labour, deployment of GHRDC staff in housekeeping and security roles, and strict enforcement of wage payment compliance. Strategic initiatives discussed also included launching industry-specific training, introducing on-the-job diploma programs, sharing candidate databases for smoother recruitment, implementing PMSBY across all companies, and promoting job creation in emerging sectors.
