Digital Goa, August 5 – Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the Assembly that the Excise Department earned a record ₹947.87 crore in revenue last year, nearly doubling from ₹491.83 crore in 2020, and announced plans to introduce holograms on liquor bottles to curb illegal alcohol trade. He said the government earned ₹2 crore from auctioning 250 old vehicles at a scrap mela and has allocated ₹100 crore per constituency this fiscal, with Panaji already exceeding its limit. The Budget Department is now tracking expenditure across constituencies. On cultural initiatives, Sawant said the government has secured 3,801 sq. m. land in Ayodhya to build ‘Goa Ram Nivas’ and is exploring land acquisition in Velankanni for a bhavan to accommodate Goan devotees. He also assured that pending works of Kala Academy will be expedited and repairs at Margao’s Ravindra Bhavan will begin within a week.
