CM seeks budgetary provision of Rs 8,000 crore plus for Goa in Union Budget

    June 22- CM Pramod Sawant said that he has sought budgetary provision of Rs 8,000 crore plus for Goa in the upcoming Union Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 for various developmental works which the state needs. He was speaking after attending the pre-Budget consultation meet of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman with the finance ministers of states and union territories today. The meeting aimed to gather insights and recommendations for the upcoming the budget. Sawant said that he has asked for Rs 5000 crore for undertaking various projects to improve Railway Connectivity in the State. CM said he has proposed Small Metro train for inter city connectivity, Railway connectivity to Mopa Airport, Pernem to Canacona local trains, fast track trains connecting Goa to Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad etc, double tracking of remains portion of Mangalore-Mumbai Konkan railway route etc. Sawant said he has sought Rs 700 core for WRD for strengthening water reservoirs, dams and for preventing soil erosion. Rs 1000 crore has been sought for PWD to replace age old pipelines. Separate funds have also been sought for power Dept for Renewable energy infrastructure. Sawant said he has asked for funds to the tune of Rs 300 crore for developing infrastructure for St Xaviers Exposition. These initiatives are essential for Goa’s development, and I am certain they shall be included in the upcoming Union Budget 2024-2025, he added
