CM urges Goans to support IIT project, questions opposition

Digital Goa, September 9, 2025 – People in Goa should not oppose national projects like Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) “for the sake of opposing,” but welcome them, asserted CM Pramod Sawant today. He was reacting to opposition by locals to the proposed IIT at Codar, Ponda. Incidentally, this is the fifth venue proposed for the premier institution which has already commenced operations in Goa from a temporary campus at Farmagudi, Ponda. Sawant stressed that as a 100% literate state, Goa should have a forward-looking mindset focused on the future of children of the state. “People must tell me why such a project is being opposed,” he said. He alleged that those who oppose are instigated by people who have been blocking national projects all this while.
