Digital Goa, Aug 11- KTC bus commuters will be able to get live, real time information regarding buses running under KTC on their mobiles via an app as part of the Intelligent Transport Management System(ITMS). The system will become operational within next 6 months, informed Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho. He asked taxi operators also to take to technology and come up with their own app, but asserted that digital platform will be a must. He was speaking during the flagging off of the Mhaji Bus Scheme with 25 private bus owners on board. The scheme is being run through KTCL in association with Transport Dept on pilot basis for a period of 6 months. Private buses have been taken on board by KTC under the scheme at predefined per kilometer remuneration. Financial approval has been taken so far for 187 bus while 66 bus owners have enrolled their buses under the scheme, informed Mauvin. National routes will also be provide to private buses through KTC, said the Minister. Pending subsidy of bus owners will be cleared soon, he further assured. Also a new scheme will be launched to replace all old private buses to new buses, he added.

Old private buses in the capital will be replaced with 48 EV buses provided under Smart City project. In next two weeks public transport in Panaji will be smart transport with new EV buses, said Mauvin. The old private buses will be accommodated under Mhaji Bus Scheme on other routes.
