Compliance to AML/CFT Regulations now mandatory for gambling licence holders

Digital Goa, Nov 13- Goa govt has amended the Goa Public Gambling Act to include ensuring of compliance by those being issued licenses under the act to “AML/CFT Regulations” i.e. the Goa Anti Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Guidelines, 2013 regulations. “The licence shall not be granted to any person if he or his associates or in case of firm or body corporate any persons holding any key managerial position in such firm or body corporate is convicted of any criminal offence punishable with imprisonment for a period of not less than 2 years and if such person is convicted after the license is granted, such licence shall be cancelled immediately and all fees paid shall stand forfeited to the Government,” the amendment adds. The Gaming Commissioner or the Inspection Officer have also been given powers to inspect the premises on a periodic basis to ensure compliance to AML/CFT Regulations.
