Computer proficiency, minimum six-month computer course mandatory for 115 types of Group C posts in Goa govt from 2027

    Digital Goa, June 4 – The Goa Government has notified new rules making basic computer qualifications mandatory for recruitment to 115 different types of Group ‘C’ posts across various government departments from January 1, 2027. Under the new rules, applicants must possess a minimum six-month diploma or certificate course in computers from a recognized institution. Candidates holding degrees or diplomas in computer-related fields, or ITI qualifications such as Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), are exempted from this requirement. The notification further states that candidates aspiring for these posts will have to clear a Computer Proficiency Test as prescribed by the Government. The requirement will apply to a wide range of Group ‘C’ posts including Upper and Lower Division Clerks, Stenographers, Village Panchayat Secretaries, Gram Sevaks, Talathis, Junior Engineers, Data Entry Operators, Sub-Inspectors, Auditors, Pharmacists, State Tax Inspectors and several other posts across departments.
