Digital Goa, June 24 – Congress staged a protest at Vidyut Bhavan in Panaji on Wednesday, demanding that the state government issue an official notification scrapping the Smart Meter Project. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that the implementation of the smart meter project has been kept on hold until issues related to sanctioned load and the penalties imposed on consumers are resolved. The protesters insisted that the government permanently withdraw the project through a formal written order. Protesters, who were stopped by the police at the department’s gate, asserted that they had every right to enter a public office.
