Congress seeks meeting with Railway Minister over coal transport revelation

Digital Goa, Sept 1 – The Goa Congress has written to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav seeking an urgent meeting following the Union Ministry’s statement linking Hubli–Goa double tracking with coal transportation. GPCC said in the letter that urgent meeting is sought over “the shocking revelation that Hubli–Goa double tracking is meant for coal transport.”
The Opposition, meanwhile, launched a united attack on the government. South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes said on X that double tracking was “Modiji’s gift to Adani to transport coal and destroy Goa.” RGP leader Viresh Borkar asserted, “Goa is not for sale,” while AAP alleged the BJP was more concerned about Adani than Goans. Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai accused the BJP of betraying Goans, claiming Mormugao was already devastated by coal pollution and warning that villages from Velsao to Collem now face the same threat.
