Congress to have talks with Goa Forward & RGP for seat sharing in ZP Elections

Digital Goa, Nov 22 – The Congress high-powered committee met today and decided to have talks with the Goa Forward Party (GFP) and the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections. GPCC President Amit Patkar, speaking to the media, said that the party will hold discussions with the chiefs of the two regional parties within the next one or two days to discuss seat-sharing arrangements for the polls. Patkar said that in constituencies where there is no dispute, the party will declare candidates by Monday. For seats where claims overlap among like-minded parties, he will personally meet the respective party presidents before taking a final decision. Reiterating the party’s position, Patkar asserted, “The Congress Party’s stand on defectors is very clear. We will not support defectors under any circumstances.”
