Digital Goa, Nov 20 – Container operations at the Mormugao Port in Goa resumed today after a seven-year hiatus. MPA Chairperson Dr N. Vinodkumar, along with officials from Delta Ports, flagged off the SCI Mumbai container vessel, formally restarting services that had been suspended since 2018. The first consignment arrived aboard MV SCI Mumbai, which docked at Berth No. 10 carrying 33 containers loaded with tiles, wheat and salt. Dr Vinodkumar described the development as “a new chapter in port growth.” For the past seven years, exporters and manufacturers in Goa had been forced to send their cargo by road to Port in Mumbai, increasing both transport time and cost.
