Digital Goa, Aug 25 – The Fast Track Special Court (POCSO) at Merces has sentenced 40-year-old person from Cortalim, to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping and sexually assaulting his 16-year-old daughter in July 2024. He was convicted and awarded 20 years RI and a fine of ₹50,000 each under Section 64 of BNS and Section 6 of POCSO, besides separate sentences under Sections 4 and 8 of POCSO. All substantive sentences will run concurrently.The case came to light on July 26, 2024, after the girl disclosed the ordeal at school, following which Verna Police registered an FIR and arrested the person. The court also directed that the fine recovered be paid to the victim and ordered compensation under the Goa Victim Compensation Scheme.
