Digital Goa, May 24 – If projects of Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) and the Urban Development Ministry are not completed or exceed the allotted timeline, money will be recovered from the concerned officers monitoring the project. “Such a decision will be taken by GSUDA in the next meeting,” informed Urban Development Minister Vishwajeet Rane. GSUDA is under scanner over haphazard Smart City works.
▪️ All projects and the funds utilized by GSUDA for past 3 years to be audited
GSUDA has appointed senior chartered accountant(CA) Lalit Shah to conduct audit of all the projects and the funds utilized for the last three years. Senior retired PWD official of SE level will also be appointed in GSUDA as chief project manager. Govt also aims to establish criteria for selecting engineering firms to carry out GSUDA projects. Those who have abandoned or failed to complete projects will be blacklisted.
▪️ Center to be urged to audit funds sent to GSUDA and DMA
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will be urged to send an officer from the Ministry of Urban Affairs to audit funds sent to the Goa State Urban Development Agency(GSUDA) to bring transparency and accountability, informed Rane. “Every rupee that has been received from the Ministry of Urban Development or the state Government to GSUDA will be audited independently. I will urge Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to send an officer from the Ministry of Urban Affairs to audit funds been sent to the Department in order to bring transparency and accountability; government officials are here to work and serve the people in a transparent manner, not to create a loss for the government exchequer,” said Rane.
