Crimes against women calls to PCR dropped 31.7%, overall PCR calls down 8.8%: Police

Digital Goa, September 04 – The Police Control Room (PCR) received 369 calls related to crimes against women at the 112 Emergency Response Support System in the first eight months of 2025, according to figures released by Goa Police on Thursday. This marks a 31.79% decline compared to the 541 calls recorded in the same period last year, said police. Overall, PCR calls in the state showed a decline, with 21,413 calls received between January and August 2025 — down 8.82% from 23,484 in 2024, as per the stats released by the Dept. Of these, 8,385 calls were linked to fighting and assault, 5,468 to accidents, 3,393 to noise pollution, and 2,023 to traffic-related issues. There were also 648 reports of persons lying unattended, 546 theft complaints, 492 hit-and-run cases, along with 75 snatching incidents and 14 bullfighting complaints. Police attributed the overall reduction in PCR calls to proactive measures, including systematic tenant verification, targeted action against anti-social elements, and enhanced patrolling with additional PCR vehicles.
