Digital Goa, July 15 – Goa government will include a dedicated episode on the 1583 Cuncolim Revolt in its upcoming animation film on the freedom struggle. The memorial will be renovated by spending Rs 1.5 crore and statues of all 16 chieftains will be installed at the Cuncolim memorial by next year. The announcements were made during the Chieftains’ Uprising Commemoration Day today. Minister Subhash Phal Dessai said efforts are on to digitise old land records to curb manipulation and scams. LoP and Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao called the Cuncolim Revolt Asia’s first anti-colonial rebellion, predating the 1857 uprising by 274 years.
