Digital Goa, December, 17 – Following recent fire incidents at Arpora that led to loss of 25lives, the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) has issued a circular directing all occupancies and establishments to strictly comply with fire and life safety guidelines. DFES has made it mandatory for all establishments to obtain and maintain a valid Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC)under the Goa Fire Force Act, 1986. “Trade licenses and occupancy certificates shall remain valid only when supported by current fire clearance,” the circular warns.Any structural or interior modifications affecting fire safety must receive prior DFES approval. The advisory stresses unobstructed exits and escape routes, use of fire-retardant materials, proper housekeeping, and adherence to electrical safety norms. Installation and regular maintenance of fire detection, alarm, sprinkler, wet-riser and firefighting systems have been made compulsory, along with emergency lighting and clear exit signage
