Digambar Kamat & Ramesh Tawadkar Sworn In as Ministers in Sawant Government

Digital Goa, Aug 21 -Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar were sworn in as ministers in the Pramod Sawant cabinet today, in a simple ceremony. Goa Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju administered the oath of office and secrecy to Kamat and Tawadkar at Raj Bhavan this afternoon. Earlier in the day, Ramesh Tawadkar resigned as the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly. With the induction of the two ministers, there are now no vacancies left in the cabinet. Following Tawadkar’s resignation, the post of Speaker has been left vacant and is likely to be filled by Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar. Digambar Kamat is the only MLA among the eight Congress legislators who switched to the BJP to be given a ministerial position. Earlier, former Congress MLA Aleixo Sequeira, who had also been inducted into the ministry, resigned yesterday citing personal reasons.
