Will bring in legislation to protect affected peoples’ rights if required
Digital Goa, Mar 26 – Pointing out that there is distinction between illegal and irregular constructions, CM Pramod Sawant asserted that there is no need for law abiding general public to panic over the High Court order of March 6 . “At this juncture I would like to point out that there is no need for the law abiding general public to panic and that we need to make a distinction between illegal and irregular constructions,” said CM. “We are examining the order and further wherever required we will explore the possibility of bringing in law/legislation to protect the rights of the affected people if felt necessary,” he added.
In compliance with the HC order on March 6, the Directorate of Panchayat as well as Dept of Municipal Administration have issued instructions to CCP and village panchayat & municipalities across Goa to identify and initiate actions against such illegal constructions. The issue was raised by LoP Yuri Alemao in the assembly on Mar 24, prompting CM to make a statement in this regards.
