Digital Goa, June 9- Doctors gathered in large numbers at Goa Medical College (GMC) this morning to protest against Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane and demand justice for Dr Rudresh Kuttikar, the Casualty Medical Officer(CMO) who was threatened with suspension. Heads of various departments, doctors from all departments, IMA Council Members, consultants, students, and interns participated in the protest outside Deans office inside the GMC complex shouting ‘We want justice’ slogan. Some of the demands of the protestors include a formal public apology from the Health Minister to the officer involved and the larger medical community in Goa, government assurance that no healthcare professional would face such harassment and ‘degrading and arbitrary ordeal’ again, a strict ban on any form of videography—including by the press—in sensitive doctor-patient zones, especially in emergency and casualty departments, Zero tolerance towards VIP culture in clinical settings, with calls for enforcing triage-based treatment protocols, ensuring that care is provided based on clinical urgency rather than social or political status.
