Dona Paula dacoity case first arrest: UP native Calangute resident held for aiding main accused

Digital Goa, Oct 30 – Panaji Police have arrested Mahmmod Ali (46), son of Yakub, a resident of Calangute and native of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with dacoity committed at Dempo Vista, Dona Paula, on April 20, 2025. This is the first arrest in the case. Police informed that Mahmmod had close links with the main accused and had assisted in identifying the target house and executing the offence. He also allegedly harboured the accused before and after the crime. Police said Mahmmod Ali has a criminal background and was previously arrested in crimes in Vasco police jurisdiction including attempt to murder, use of arms etc.

He had earlier served time at Colvale Prison, where he came in contact with the main accused, police further added. Mahmmod Ali was arrested on October 29, 2025, and has been remanded to five days of police custody by the JMFC, Panaji.
