Aug 15- Drugs are available all over and one does not require Sunburn EDM Festival for that, opined State Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira today. The Festival is opposed by people of the State on the grounds that drugs are easily available at the 3 day annual event. Recently held Loutolim Gram Sabha has also opposed holding of the festival at the Verna Plateau. “I basically believe that drugs are today available all over. You don’t require Sunburn to come and make drugs available,” asserted the Minister. Citing example of an annual 3 day festival at Colva, Sequeira said that it was responsibility of the citizens to work in tandem with the law enforcement agencies to tackle the menace.

The Minister said that as of now no one has approached him for conducting Sunburn Festival. He however added that he will go by the decision of his government as regards holding the festival. He added that he has done his duty of conveying the sentiments of the people to the Chief Minister. “Beyond that my hands are tied,” he added. When queried about the payment dues by the organisers, Sequeira said that state can decide on not giving them permission till such time that the dues are paid.
