Digital Goa, December 1 — The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Panaji Zonal Office, has provisionally attached 19 immovable properties spread across over 5 lakh sq m in prime locations including Anjuna, Assagaon and Ucassaim, worth approximately ₹1,268.63 crore. The attachment, made on November 27, 2025, falls under provisions of the PMLA, 2002. According to ED, the properties were illegally acquired by a group led by Shivshankar Mayekar through forged and fabricated ownership documents. These included forged Aforamento/Allotment Certificates, Certificates of Final Possession, Auto de Demarcação, as well as falsified deeds of sale and gift deeds. This action follows earlier seizures during search operations conducted on September 9 and October 10 this year, during which bank accounts and other assets worth ₹12.85 crore were frozen. The probe originated from an FIR registered by Goa Police against Yeshwant Sawant and others for allegedly defrauding the Communidade of Anjuna by fraudulently mutating land at Survey No. 496/1-A in their names using forged documents. The land was later reportedly sold to third parties, generating large proceeds of crime. Investigations revealed Mayekar as the key conspirator, accused of illegally acquiring multiple land parcels in Goa under the names of associates, relatives and frontmen. He was arrested on October 1, 2025 and is currently in judicial custody.
