Digital Goa, Nov 16 – Goa govt is trying to set up a convention center which can be used as a permanent venue for International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Earlier attempts to tender the convention center work have failed, however the govt is trying to take a contractor on board as early as possible and start the project, informed CM Pramod Sawant. He however refrained from committing that the next IFFI will be held at the permanent venue. He was briefing the media about preparations of IFFI scheduled to be held in Goa from Nov 20 to 28. 99 % of IFFI related work is completed, he informed. Sawant said that it is a matter of pride that the 14th biggest and prestigious film competition in the world is being held at Goa. 198 international films, 13 of which are world premieres will be shown at IFFI this year. In all 270 films will be screened at 4 venues including Inox (4 screens), Maquinez Palace (one screen), Porvorim Inox (4 screens), Z square and Samrat Ashok (2 screens). National games were organised under the leadership of women and 54th IFFI will also be led by 2 women in Goa, said Sawant referring to vice chairperson of the Entertainment Society of Goa(ESG) Delilah Lobo and IAS officer Ankita Mishra, CEO ESG who accompanied him during the briefing. Outdoor screenings for general public will be held at Miramar, Anjuna and Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
