Jan 13 – Eight individuals lost their lives along Goa’s coastline in 2024, according to a release by the Goa government-appointed Drishti Marine life-saving agency. Throughout the year, Drishti Marine’s lifesavers were involved in approximately 764 incidents, involving nearly 950 people across Goa’s beaches and the Dudhsagar Waterfalls. The agency reported 639 water-based rescues, including 487 Indian nationals and 120 foreign nationals. Among foreign nationals, Russians (70) and UK nationals (16) accounted for the most rescues by nationality. Within India, the highest number of rescues involved individuals from Karnataka (119) and Maharashtra (106).
