Digital Goa, March 6- Jail Authorities of the State Central Jail at Colvale have been asked to strictly ensure that female wardens or female officers accompany male officers when they visit the female wards in jail. Goa Human Rights Commission has recommended the same in its inquiry report released today. Women prisoners of the state central jail had complained that the male officers come to the women’s block, unaccompanied by the Jail Matron and the women are embarrassed. Under Rule 1445 of Goa Prisons Rules, 2021, no male are permitted to enter the female ward of any prison at any time, unless they have a legitimate duty to attend therein. The male officers have also been asked by the commission in its order to make a record of every visit to the female ward with reasons for such visit in the report book. The commission has also sought action taken report in this regards within one month. The prison authorities on their part have however asserted that male officers are always accompanied by lady officers during female ward visits.
